Michael Schiffman, DMD, MD
Michael grew up in Long Island and graduated from G.W. Hewlett High School. He received a B.S. in Finance from the Binghamton University School of Management, and then went on to earn his D.M.D. degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Upon graduation from dental school, Michael was accepted into the six year M.D. integrated Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and received his M.D. degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. In his final year of training, Michael served as Chief Resident of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service and was responsible for providing care and supervising the resident staff at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital Center, the Bronx V.A. Hospital, and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
In 2011, Michael went on his first dental mission of mercy to an orphanage in the Dominican Republic. then, he has continued to demonstrate his compassion for the less fortunate by volunteering for additional missions to underserved populations in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and most recently in Tecate, Mexico, where he participated in a cleft lip and palate repair team.
Michael’s outstanding training enables him to provide the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery procedures including orthognathic surgery, general anesthesia and IV sedation, dental implants and bone grafting, management of oral pathology, cosmetic procedures, repair of oral-facial trauma, as well as traditional dentoalveolar surgery. He serves on the teaching staff of The Mount Sinai Hospital, where he has admitting privileges for patients requiring hospitalization or operating room procedures.
